Ross Playing in the River

Beginning Kayaking -

If you have never been in a Kayak, this is the course for you. We will teach you all the basics about the river, the boat, and how they work together. These classes take place on the Upper Colorado River, on a section picked for its great beginning kayaking environment. Our instructors will explain all the fundementals of river currents, and how to use them to get yourself savely down the water. Lessons on eddys, eddy lines, going through rapids, maintaining balance, wet exits, the "T" rescue, and beginning work on the "Roll". All equipment is provided, along with transportation, and lunch.

Beyond Basics Kayaking -

If after your beginning lesson you are bitten by the bug, but you still want some detailed instruction, sign up for Byond Basics. We will go over some of the more techical aspects of the sport, including the off side roll, scouting and running harder rapids, and playboating. This course is designed for those getting ready to buy their own boat, and get out there themselves. It is highly recommended that after this course you sign up for a Swiftwater Rescue course. Kayakers are well known for their self reliance, and we would like to keep it that way.
